AutoIEP
If you deal with Special Education students, you know all about the need for AutoIEP.
According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1997 (IDEA '97), the federal government requires that schools develop Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) for every child with a documented learning disability. Currently about 10% of the children enrolled in public schools in the U.S. are on IEPs. The primary purpose of these is to document the child's Present Level of Performance, and to establish Measurable Annual Goals to be accomplished during the school year.
These are laudable objectives, to be sure. And many children, parents and teachers have benefited from the process.
That's the good news.
The bad news is that IEPs are incredibly time-consuming to develop. Special Ed teachers routinely spend upwards of six hours per IEP. After an IEP is completed, representatives from the school have to meet with the child's parents to go over the details, and to agree on a proposed program to achieve the stated objectives. Then, once everyone has signed off on the plan, it becomes a legally binding document between the school and the parents. It's a big deal!
But now, there's great news! With AutoIEP, you can significantly speed up and simplify the entire IEP process. At the most basic level, most of the document's static data, such as the child's name, parents' names, home address, and so on, only has to be entered once. The system then automatically enters the data wherever it is required on all of the forms. A more advanced feature of AutoIEP is that teachers can use the system to develop their own libraries of frequently used goal statements. They can custom-tailor these statements for each child, and enter them into the IEP with a mouse-click.
Since all of the information is maintained electronically, faculty and staff have the ability to do sophisticated analyses of actual results in order to discover and continuously improve their best practices. The outcome is that teachers not only have more time to teach -- they have better insights into what to teach.
Obviously, the security of personal data is of paramount importance. Therefore, all information on AutoIEP is protected with industry-standard, 128-bit encryption, and by storing it in a password-protected database.
Since AutoIEP is totally online, faculty and parents have 24-hour, password-protected access to the system from any Internet-connected computer. And since there is no hardware to buy, and no software to install or maintain, start-up costs are negligible.
AutoIEP is truly an invaluable tool for all teachers with children in their classrooms who have special needs. Contact us to find out how we can start to put it to work for you.
